Sample Packing List for Enjoying Zion National Park and Surrounding Areas

We invite you to make Canyon Vista your home base for an amazing multi-day experience! ...and to stay with us often!

Clothing and basic gear (adjust basic list with warmer or cooler clothing depending on the season)

Hiking pants / shorts

Shirts and warm layer/s (versatile wicking layers are great for changing temperatures)

Water proof/resistant wind shell/jacket with hood (If you experience some wind or rain, you will definitely want to be equipped to still enjoy the spectacular scenery / waterfalls!)

Underwear and socks

Footwear: hiking boots / sturdy trail shoes and/or sports sandals. (If hiking the Narrows or Subway, consider sturdy water shoes that grip, hike, support, drain and dry well. These are also great for tubing. Sturdy sport sandals can be adequate for short walks, tubing and going to the hot tub. If hiking in winter, sturdy waterproof hiking boots are a big plus.)

Hiking poles or walking stick

Gloves in winter (also consider short-fingered gloves in warm season for hiking more challenging routes such as Angel's Landing with chains)

Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen (warm hat or ear band in winter)

Day pack or fanny pack

Water bottles or hydration pack

Swim suit for hot tub (all seasons!)

Change of clothes for dinner, movie, strolling town, church

Camera!! (A water-proof camera is a real plus for tubing, rafting, kayaking, hiking the Narrows or Subway and other water sports)

(Canyon Vista provides complimentary fresh ground coffee, herbal teas and hot chocolate in your Suite. You can pick up other groceries / supplies conveniently on your way to Zion in Hurricane or LaVerkin (about 15 miles west). Springdale also has an orchard (seasonal) and small grocery store (year-round).

Additional equipment and gear considerations for a wide variety of activities in Zions and nearby areas (Most gear / equipment and guides are also available for rent / hire in Springdale or nearby)

Raft / tubes (for floating down the Virgin River—a big hit in the summer)

Wetsuit / drysuit gear (for Narrows or Subway adventures during Spring / Fall)

Headlamp (if you want to start adventures pre-sunrise or go later than expected)

Rock-climbing, canyoneering and/or rappelling equipment

Horseback riding gear

Micro-spikes (for snowy / icy hiking conditions)
